Fish

When 

I first saw you, 

you took my breath 

away. And with you by

 my side, I forgot that

 I needed air to survive.

I forgot that I was ever

 human, as the days 

seemed to quicken along

 with the thudding 

of my heart. 

Now that you're 

gone, 

I have realized

 I am nothing but 

the fish you swept to shore. 

And try as I must, I still cannot breathe.
