I tried.  Good things don't come  from sitting about,  so although  I may mess it up,  once,  twice,  or twenty thousand  more times,  at least I can look back  with fondness, and say that I tried.

forget slowly,  like moss that creeps over river stones,  memory stole you away and left only blankness in your greying gaze.  where did you go,  sweet summer dove? are you ever coming  back home?  well  when you’re ready to look back,  days or weeks or eternities  from now, just know I’ll still be here.  I’ll still be waiting. 

bubble wrap I am your caged dove,  your perfect porcelain doll.  You praise me,  pad me in bubble wrap  and say it is love,  yet you turn  a cold shoulder-- forever a coward.  Too afraid to  hold me for long. 

worse ways  dawn brings  the burden of  day and the sound  of soft singing-- your hair a mess  and eyes drooping, weary.  And though I dread the hours to come,  I think there are  worse ways  to wake up. 

It happened quietly. You were always  the first to remain  silent. They smiled and  said you were  oh, so quiet,   but I knew that while  your lips didn't bleed words,  your eyes flooded the room.  Those eyes never stopped talking, yet even after you  died that night with blood  in your mouth, they still say  it happened quietly.

Eggshells You tried to make  pancakes for me  one dreary morning with shaky hands not quite used  to the stove's heat.  Though they turned out  oval and burnt,  as I felt  the crunch of eggshells beneath my weary teeth,  all I could taste was your smiling face,  and since then,  I've never had anything  as sweet.
